Leatha Reese was born April 11, 1941, in Selma Alabama, the beloved daughter of Lottie Bell Johnson. Leatha later met Jean Reese and married him in Selma, Alabama. They then had 6 children: James Reese, Bettie Reese, Katie Reese, Sylvester Reese, William Reese and Virginia Reese. Later the family moved to Newark, New Jersey, and Charlotte Reese, Maria Reese and Charles Reese were born. After the passing of Jean Reese, God brought Johnnie McKay into Leatha’s life. Leatha, better known as “Momma,” was a strong Black woman. She was a teacher’s aide in Newark, New Jersey. Momma loved her pets and garden. She would tell you like it was when you didn’t want to know what it was. Momma will be missed by many across New Jersey. She leaves behind two sisters Lucy Johnson and Annie Gordon, 6 children, 43 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. Letha is a diamond in the sky that will shine forever.
Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."John 5:28, 29 Our deepest sympathy to your family.
