In the quiet morning hours of Thursday, April 14th, Willie J. (Billy) Fennell, Jr., embraced the tranquility of God's eternity. Billy transitioned in the Medical University of South Carolina bidding the cares of this world farewell. Willie J. (Billy) Fennell, Jr., 72, husband of Elizabeth R. Fennell, was a native of Yemassee, SC. A graduate of the North District Training School, Varnville, SC, Billy matriculated with the South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC. His natural skills coupled with those he learned in the halls of academia, afforded him many professional opportunities. He has resided in Illinois and Georgia, but made his way back to his native home. Billy has managed Eckerds, Inc., was a South Carolina DOT Officer, and was the comptroller for Frazier Construction Co, Ravenel. An entrepreneur, he and his wife, established a Flower Shop that served Yemassee and adjoining areas. Later, he would work in the field of entertainment, "the Wonder Woman Club." He was a man who was never lost for words and intrigued many listeners with life lesson stories. Always to remember him, he leaves his wife, daughter, grandchildren, siblings, relatives and friends.

Billy, Liz, Andrea and the Fennell Family have always held a special place in my heart and always will. The Fennell Family has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I will miss my conversations with Billy. He, acting like an older brother questioning me about my decisions and sometimes accepting my advice regarding his decisions. I will miss his unique "spirit. But this is what I know for sure, "Spirit Never Dies", and I can continue to speak to "Billy's spirit" and in some manner he will respond.
Dear Loved ones, God is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent. Liz, Andrea, family and friends, my prayer is that we all embrace one another in Faith, Love and Strength as we release and bless Billy Fennell's spirit into the everlasting arms of Our Father God. Let us affirm that God's Grace and Mercy will cover, comfort and sustain us through at this time and beyond.
Billy, I Love You My Brother and I Thank You For Your Love and Guidance!

Billy, my brother, my friend my mud pie buddy. I came to know Billy because his grandmother Bessie Fennell and my grandmother Rebecca Hicks-Washington was childhood friends. This friendship continued through adulthood with them becoming next door neighbors and godmothers to each others children. As Bessie Fennel was godmother to my mother Alma Washington-Bowers, upon the arrival of Billy, he immediately became my mud pie buddy and was affectionately known to my children as Uncle Billy. After Billy completeld college he moved his family to the Chicagoland area where I lived. Oh what a great times we had during those years. When Billy moved back to South Carolina and I would come to visit I would insist he rearrange his schedule so we could spend more time together. On one of my visits, I felt he had not spent enough time with me and I told him so. I pouted and fussed, but in true Billy fashion he told me then and many times since, "Ann it is not always about YOU". I disagreed. Over the years that comment rested in my spirit. It has helped me to be more reserved, still and patient. Liz, Andrea and the Fennell family, I thank you for sharing Billy with me all these years and for making a special place in your hearts and your home. Although at this time I am unable to be with you in person, please know you are my family and that I am always near in heart and with love. Billy you were right, it is not always about me, because today it is all about YOU. I will miss my brother/friend. Rest in Peace. Love your sister/friend Ann Bowers-Digby
