Obituary For Margie Lee Barnwell

Faithful, Servant, Committed to the Lord, Prayer Warrior, Giving - No other words can better describe the incomparable Margie Lee Barnwell. Margie, also called "Marge," made her appearance in this world on December 15, 1955, and returned to her heavenly home on January 17, 2024, while being surrounded by love and family.

Margie was the second child of Ogreathea Barnwell. Growing up, she was an inquisitive little girl, always full of questions and wonder. That curiosity never left her. She spent her adolescent and teenage years living in Roxbury, MA. She attended the local elementary and middle schools, then later went on to graduate from Brighton High School. Margie held various jobs throughout her career, including working for Polaroid and the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority).

Known as the "Gadget Queen" to her family. Margie had gadgets and gizmos a plenty and could tell you about all the latest cool inventions and how they could change your life. She enjoyed reading advertorials and exploring tech magazines for her next greatest find.

Margie had several loves in life, such as her family, little children, dogs, and driving. She was a great driver, and if she was a passenger in your vehicle, she wasn't shy about giving you a few driving tips. But her greatest love was praying for people's healing and salvation. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and a faithful member of Jubilee Christian Church, where she served several years as a Gatekeeper (Usher). Margie read her bible as if it was going out of style and could recite scriptures as easily as breathing. She would quickly correct anyone who said anything contrary to the word of God. Up until the last four months of her life, Margie spent every waking day ministering to people. Whether it was at a grocery store, a mall, a restaurant, or in the streets, she wasn't nervous nor ashamed about sharing the news of God's love and goodness. Her boldness and willingness to be obedient and do unpopular things were truly an inspiration to many.

"You can have what you say" was more than a common phrase that Margie said to others. She lived this mantra out loud, along with her other favorite saying, "I'm believing what God said," which she would say with steadfastness and a no-nonsense face. But that no-nonsense face would quickly dissipate if someone approached her with a need. Margie had a heart of gold and would graciously share whatever she had with others. She financially supported several ministries and charities and regularly gave money, food, and clothing to unhoused people. While Margie loved to share her ministry stories and endeavors with others, it was never to brag or boast. She simply considered all she did to be an honor and her responsibility as a servant of God.

A daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and a friend - Margie truly was one of a kind and will be deeply missed. Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Natasha Nicole Goss; her sister, Teresa Barnwell; her brother, Joseph Barnwell; her granddaughter, Quianna Barnwell; her grandson, Frankie Wright; her great-grandson, Austin Taylor; her nieces: Juanita Randolph, Nicole Ramsey, Pascha Barnwell, Javone (Domonique) Barnwell-O'veal, Natasha Marina, Jamey Marina-Williams, Kari Barnwell, Vanessa Greaves, Olivia Barnwell; her nephews: Byron Jerome (Amy) Barnwell Jr., James Tyrell (Jennifer) Barnwell, Joshua Barnwell, and Isaiah Barnwell. Additionally, Margie leaves behind her cousin, Rudene Williams, her former sister-in-law, Lawanda Faye Turner, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding Margie in death is her loving mother, Ogreathea Daisy Barnwell, and her eldest brother, Byron Jerome Barnwell, Sr.

Although her departure from this earth is sorrowful, may Margie be eternally comforted by knowing she brought love, joy, and kindness to many.
