βThere is a land that is fairer than day and by faith we can see it afar.β With a wave of her hand and a gentle smile, Mrs. Lizzie Mae Brown has journeyed to that land where travelers go never to return. On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, with the setting of the sun she entered into the Lord's rest at her daughter's residence in Walterboro, SC.
Mrs. Lizzie Mae Brown was the widow of John Henry Brown of the Roadside community of Yemassee, SC. Born January 9, 1941, Colleton County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Prince Williams, Sr., and Mollie Elliott Williams. She attended the public schools of Colleton County and was a lifelong member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where she served on the Mothers' Board. Lizzie Mae was a dietician for the public school system for many years.
The treasure of precious memories rests with her children, grandchildren, brothers and many loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Brown, her daughter, Sandra Denise Brown; two grandsons, Ramone Varner and Skilar Brown.
Her life and legacy will be held in the hearts of: her daughters and son, Audrey Varner (Raymond), Robert Brown, and Beverly Brown; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two brothers, Thurman Williams, Sr., and Prince Williams, Jr., one brother-in-law, Roy Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 26th 5-7 pm in the Chapel of Young Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27th 1:00 pm in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 22 Jonesville Avenue, Yemassee, SC. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
