Mrs. Phyllis Kittrell, was born on October 6, 1960 in Edgecombe County Memorial Hospital to the late Elizabeth Barnhill Jenkins and William Henry Jenkins. She transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, March 3, 2023.
Mrs. Kittrell was educated in the Caven County School and Guilford County School Systems. She was a graduate of Grimsley High School, class of 1978. She furthered her education at NC A&T State University, with an undergraduate degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. Phyllis received her Master’s degree from Averett University in Curriculum & Instructions. She also attended Leon’s Beauty School.
Throughout her employment history she has worked for Leon’s Beauty Salon, Guilford County School System, Norfolk Public Schools and Danville Public Schools. On October 4, 1987, she married the love of her life, Michael Anthony Kittrell.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Elizabeth Holland Jenkins, Lois Teen Jenkins, Henry Cleveland Jenkins, Charles Evans Jenkins, Alvin Lee Jenkins, Dorothy Faye Jenkins, and Martha Ann Jenkins.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are: her husband, Michael Anthony Kittrell; children, Mark Andrew Kittrell and Shakira Janay Kittrell; grandchildren, Mariah Jasmine Kittrell and Mya Anne Kittrell; siblings, Mary Louise Jenkins, Dennis Morris Jenkins (Leslie), and Regina Ann Jenkins and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00PM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Woodard Funeral Home Chapel. Visitations will start 1hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
