I was stunned today as I glanced at the newspaper in Walmart and saw Doug's name there. I was in Walmart when I last saw him. We were supposed to get together and go over old times. We went to school together and took karate class along with his brother Russell and our cousin Wade. The world just lost another great person.

May God strengthen the family during this time of mourning. He will not be forgotten.

I will truly miss you pops and all the laughs you made me have over the years since being in Chavillias life you would always say Hey Diva how you doing here comes the Diva you were always encouraging and so full of knowledge I will Always cherish the memories we had together...sending many prayers to my Sis/best friend Chavillia and Family Love y'all so much

I was very sad when I heard the news of Douglas passing. He was indeed a very kind first cousin that always greeting you with a big smile. Whenever I would see him he would always say, "Hi Rufus" (my Dad) and I would say "Hi Lurel" (his Dad). He will be greatly missed at our annual Blackwell-Hooper Family Reunion. EVERY YEAR at the reunion, he would ask me if I thought he was the best looking son of Lurel Blackwell. I would always smile and say all of Uncle Lurel's sons were good looking. I only talked to Doug during the family reunions because I live out of state. Nevertheless, we always seemed to run into each other at the Reedy Fork Food Lion whenever I was in town. He always had a smile on his face and addressed me - "Hey cousin, so good to see you". Rest in peace Doug until we all meet again. My thoughts and prayers to the family. Gina and Bob Divers.

I loved this man. My uncle Doug. He loved me too. I loved the way he used to talk to me like I was still a baby- even at 40. I will always love and remember that. He always brightened my day when he did that. Which was every time I saw him. Uncle!!!!! I will miss you dearly.
