Mary Alice Williams was born September 7, 1946. Born to the late Elsie Howard Williams and reared by her Stepfather, the late Willie Williams, Jr. as his own. Her biological father was William Malone.
“Homer" as she was lovingly called received her early education in the Holmes County School District. Upon completion of her lower education, she went on to attend Rust College in Holy Springs, MS, majoring in Business Education.
Mary A. Williams professed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Walden Chapel UMC in Goodman, MS. She was actively the Chairperson of Nurture, Care & Concern Ministry, Member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, CSFP Committee Member, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and Chair of Committee on nominations for United Women In Faith. She has also in the past faithfully served on various other ministries in the Church.
Mary Williams was joined in Holy Matrimony to the Late Clarence M. Willington. To this union, they were blessed with one child.
Mary spent much of her early adult life working in the Holmes County School System at Holy City HeadStart Center, Ebenezer, MS and Goodman-Pickens Elementary where she served as secretary for both schools. After her tenure in the Holmes County School District, she relocated to the Jackson Public School District working as secretary for Johnson Elementary School from which she retired. In 1986, Mary moved to Atlanta, GA at this time in her life she began working for Georgia Tech Institute as a Secretary also. She enjoyed this profession until her health failed.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, sister (Elsie Jean Davis), brother (Willie Earl “Mickey” Williams) and grandson (Darius Willington).
Mary Alice Williams made her transition from her Earthly life on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 4:05 p.m. at St. Dominic Hospital-Jackson, MS.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Reginald (Sharwanda) Willington of Madison, MS; three grandchildren Kristopher Willington of Madison, MS; Marterius Brooks of Jackson, MS; Jacorqua Norwood of West Palm Beach, Florida; two sisters, Annie Washington of Goodman, MS; Nannie Mae Malone of Detroit Michigan; Six brothers, Lou (Annie) Williams and Willie Williams III of Goodman, MS; Larry Malone of Detroit Michigan; Sheldon V (Monique) Williams Sr. of Humble, TX; Willie Earl Redmond of Pearl, MS; Ricky Landfair of Waterloo, IA; one special great nephew Jemetrick (Duke) Williams; Two daughterly loved friends, Rosha Horton and Kaitlin Kimbrough; one brotherly loved relative Robert L. Wade and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
