Mae Eva Ferguson Lewis, 75, of McCool, Mississippi, passed away peacefully in her home on August 1, 2023. Mae, better known as Eva, was born on September 1, 1947, to the late Charlie and Lillie Mae (Carr) Ferguson in McCool, Mississippi. She was the second youngest and the only girl of nine children. After graduating from Tipton High School in Kosciusko, Mississippi in 1964, she moved to Milwaukee, WI where she worked in the medical field for many years. In 1995, Eva moved back to McCool to care for her ailing father. She then met and married her late husband, Moses Lewis, Jr. on January 28, 1997. She worked as a discharge clerk for Monfort Jones Memorial Hospital before retiring in 2011. Eva was an active member of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church until the decline in her health. Though Eva never had children of her own, she once said that she did not miss out on anything because she was blessed with having so many nieces and nephews to love as her own. She had a genuine love for family, and her presence will be missed. Eva was predeceased in death by her parents Charlie and Lillie Mae Ferguson; her husband, Moses Lewis, Jr.; six brothers, Cleo Ferguson, Jessie Ferguson, Ardell Ferguson, James Ferguson, Roosevelt Ferguson and Elihue Ferguson. She is survived by two brothers, Charles (TaNita) Ferguson and Willie (Patricia) Ferguson; six sisters-in-law, Lovie Ferguson, Cynthia Winters, Jossie Gamble, Fannie Gamble, Freddie (James) Lipsey, and Lucinda Miller; one brother-in-law, Mitchel Gamble; three special friends, Geraldine Banks, Verna Thompson and Ruby Foster; stepchildren and their families, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
