Obituary For Jimmie "Dinga" Simpson

Jimmie Lee Simpson affectionately known as “Dinga” was born July 8, 1948, in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the late John B. and Anna Golden Simpson. Three siblings Mary Etta Veasy, Rufus Earl Simpson, and Mae Bell Campbell preceded him in death. He departed this life on Monday, August 5, 2024, at his home in Rosenberg, Texas.

Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Kosciusko, MS. He received his education at Tipton Street High School and graduated in the Class of 1969. He also attended Jackson State University. In 1975, he enlisted in the United States Army serving time in Vietnam and Germany. He gained numerous honors and badges. After his military service, he lived in Mississippi, Louisiana and finally made Houston, Texas his home. He always had an entrepreneur mindset that allowed him to work in various business prior to him establishing a landscaping business. He then expanded this to become Simpson Tree Cutting Service, a very successful business in Houston Texas.

Jimmie will be remembered for his unique personality, his ability to talk to anyone because he never met a stranger. He was always seen as being the life of the party with a jovial spirit and good humor that always lifted others up. He loved attending The Bobcat Reunions to reunite with all his classmates and friends, young and old. He loved to dance, and he would take the dance floor by himself or with a partner.

Jimmie was a devoted, loving and caring father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will forever be remembered for his love of his children and family. He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him will cherish his memories.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories, two sons: Brandon and Nicholas Simpson of Houston, TX; two daughters, Amanda Simpson of Houston, TX and Samantha Tate Williams of Katy, TX; two grandchildren, Madyson Wiley of Sugarland, TX, and Jalem Tate Williams of Katy, TX; two sisters, Ola Mitchell of Memphis, TN, and Ruthie (James) Dodd of Gretna, LA; one brother, John Simpson of Memphis, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
