Diane Hull was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, on August 8, 1951 - the only daughter of the late Charles Felix and Eddie Delores Turner Hull.
Diane was educated in the Tipton Street school system where she graduated as a proud Tipton Street High School Bobcat in 1969. Following in her mother's footsteps, Diane then enrolled in Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, where in 1975, she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After college, Diane began teaching in the Kosciusko School District in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Teaching Title I Math, Diane commenced her teaching career at Kosciusko Middle Elementary. She, first, transferred to Kosciusko Upper Elementary and later, helped launch the Kosciusko Alternative School when it was established. During her career, Diane completed additional studies at Mississippi State University before retiring from the public school system after 25 years of service. Diane subsequently taught at Pearl River Elementary within the Choctaw Tribal School system before formally retiring from education.
Diane accepted Christ as her Savior at Wesley United Methodist Church at an early age. Diane was blessed with a daughter, Cindy Ann, and on December 26, 1982, she married LeRoy Dodd. Though this marriage later ended in divorce, no children were born of their union and LeRoy loved and raised her daughter as his own.
Diane, herself, proclaimed that she never met a stranger and she often left people that she encountered uplifted and smiling. She had cheerful spirit and was never wanting for words nor lacking an engaging story to share. As a social butterfly, Diane was active in her community - serving within the VFW Post 5051 Ladies Auxillary, National Council of Negro Women and the Homemakers Club. Though Diane relocated from her home in recent years due to failing health, she remained concerned about the goings-on in her community.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents and both of her brothers: Allen and Charles Jr.
Diane leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: one beloved daughter, Cindy Hull- Dallas, TX; one half-sister, Shirley Ruth Greer (Jimmy) - Kosciusko, MS; three aunts: Eula Cooper, Claudia Turner (Frank-dec'd) - both of St. Louis, MO and and Gladys Ward (Arthur - dec'd) - Weir, MS; two uncles: Horace Turner (Katherine) - Fort Worth, TX and Charles Turner (Nita) - Flint, MI; one cousin whom she loved as a brother, Charles E. On the passing of your loved one - Diane We pray that these flowers will help to ease your sorrow. From Cousin M.L. & Dorothy Hull & Family
As the only child of the late Diane Hull Dodd, I am eternally grateful for the thoughtful condolences, prayers, and the love you have shown. I owe huge debts of gratitude to Deidre Jackson and Infinite Home Health in Waxahachie, Texas, for the loving care and the sense of community provided as my mom adjusted to her new surroundings. Furthermore, Texas Health Specialty Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, demonstrated that nursing truly is a calling and Kindred Medical Hospital in Dallas, Texas, skillfully treated and eradicated a recurring illness. I was comforted to see her joyful spirit return in her final weeks and the pain in my loss is eased knowing that she is now at peace. Words cannot express the depth of my gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown but I pray that God continues to bless and keep each of you. ~Cindy Hull~
