Obituary For Walter Watson

MR. WALTER WATSON – Age 91, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He was born April 21, 1933 to his late parents; father, Ed Watson and mother, Fannie Mae Dwight Washington. He attended Emery Street School. He was raised in Hopewell Baptist Church and later became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served in the United States Army from 1952 – 1953 and was later honorably discharged. He was employed by E & B Carpets for 15 years and retired from Dorsett Carpets where he worked for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, horse shoes, checkers, dominos, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rosella Tibbs Watson; sisters, Annie Ruth Quinn and Nettie Dwight; brothers, Eugene Watson and Woodrow Blalock; brothers-in-law, John B. Quinn, Jim Tibbs, Billy Tibbs, and James Dwight; sisters-in-law, Clemie Watson, Ruby Tibbs, and Carrie Taylor; and sons-in-law, Geof Miller and Leander Bonds.

He is survived by his loving children, Shirley Bonds, Micheal (Linda) Tibbs, Sally Miller, Danny Watson; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Brinson, Jennifer O’Neal, Rodney Bonds, Chris Bonds, and Fallon Watson; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Alene Watson and Adele Tibbs; brothers-in-law, J. C. Ramsey and James Ramsey; sisters-in-laws, Patsy Martin and Patricia Hardson; devoted friend, Richard Roach; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at Willis Funeral Home, 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Dalton, Georgia, 30721 with Brother Eddie Duncan, Officiant. His remains will lie in state at Willis Funeral Home on Saturday after 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour. Interment; Hopewell Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
