REVEREND DR. CHARLES EDMOND “RICKY” McAFEE - Age 68, Of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at a local Hospital. He was born January 17, 1953 to the late Rev. Edmond McAfee and Mrs. Johnnie May Fox McAfee. He retired from the Y-12 Plant, Pastored at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Sweetwater, TN, Greater Bush Grove Bapt. Church, Knoxville, TN, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Dalton, GA, and Interim Pastor of Wynnton Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, GA, and many other organizations under the Missionary Baptist Churches, as Vice President East Region for BM&E, Vice President Seventh District GA General Baptist, VP Moderator Knoxville District, Asst. Dean of Loudon District Congress, Chair Board Knoxville Transit Authority, Manager of Sprint Store, Chattanooga, TN.

Survivors are his loving and devoted wife, Charlene Kitchen – McAfee; children, Tasha McAfee, devoted children, Tal (Maria) Kitchen, Arion (Nikki) Kitchen, LaKiesha Crawford M.D. (Courtney, M. D.), Teon ( Shannon) McAfee Taylor, Coustaur (April) McAfee Taylor, and Yolanda (Phil) Brown; several grandchildren; godsisters, Lorene Long, Dr. Olga (George) Welch, Carolyn (Roman) Littlejohn; a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; devoted friends, Dravian (Kathy) McGill, the Willis Family, and other friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1933 Texas Avenue, Knoxville, TN, 37921, with Dr. Joseph Smith officiating, and Rev. Jerry McAfee as Eulogist, Pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Receiving of friends from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, funeral to follow. Entombment, Greenwood Cemetery, Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37918.

On Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 5:00 P. M. there will be a Visitation at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel of Dalton, GA, with the Tennessee East Region B.M.& E. and the 7th District G.M.B.C. of Georgia. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home, Inc., and Unity Funeral Home, 1425 McCalla Avenue, Knoxville, TN., 37915. Flowers can be sent to the Unity Funeral Home. Prayers and sympathy to the family of Rev. Charles McAfee. May the God of all comfort be with you all as you call on His name. As a young child at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church I learned about God under Rev. McAfee's ministry. When I accepted Christ at a revival, Rev. McAfee baptized me. I am thankful for his ministry and to my parents and grandparents for raising me under the Word of God taught with accuracy. We are not perfect beings but God is faithful to help us all become more like Him when we turn our face to Him. May God bless you all with peace and hope in the salvation of all who believe in JESUS and accept Him as Savior.

Charlene, we are so sorry to hear of Reverend Dr. Charles McAfee passing. We were under his leadership during his pastorship at Greater Bush Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
