Obituary For Florence Rebecca “Becky” Moore

MS. FLORENCE REBECCA “BECKY” MOORE – Age 75, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. The passing of our beloved Florence, affectionately known as “Becky”, has left a void in the lives of her family, friends, and community.

On January 17, 1949, she was born the youngest child to her late parents, father, Forrest Scott Moore and mother, Flora Mae Kenion Moore. She graduated Valedictorian of Emery Street School Class of 1967. She was primarily employed by Dalton Public Schools for nearly 40 years, also while working multiple jobs to support her family. From an early age, she became a member of Mountain Ridge Baptist Church. While physically able, she was an active member on the Culinary Committee at the church. She loved gardening and was well known for her pristine flower beds. If you didn’t find her in her garden, you would most certainly find her cooking in the kitchen or grilling outside for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Nevin Ellison, Hortense Moore Phillips, Vera Moore, Flora Juanita Moore Love, Novella Moore; brothers, Walter Moore, James Moore, Leonard Moore, Marvin Moore; and committed partner, Lem Thomas.

She is survived by her loving children; Leslie (April) Jackson and Chrisley (Jerrod) McAllister; grandchildren, Zachary Dixon, Jordan Jackson, Ethan Jackson, and Jackson McAllister; sisters, Martha Moore Jones and Myra Lawrence; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 1:00 P. M. at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church, 1401 Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd, Dalton, Georgia 30721, with Rev. Dr. Jerry D. Jones, Eulogist. The family will receive extended family and friends on Monday, June 17, 2024 from 6:00 P. M. – 7:00 P. M. at Willis Funeral Home. Interment; FairgroundsCemetery. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.

GOD bless our family as we mourn the passing of our DEAR auntie. Most people called her Becky, but my name for her was REBA. We traveled to NY several times when I was a child. My first cruise was with her. Much fun!!! Family gatherings were always fun even in the snow. She would put the grill on the front porch and bbq away!!! I hope someone has her recipe, if not, you will miss the BEST BBQ in Dalton. Now she and ROOSTER can cook together. You will be sorely missed MISS REBA. MAY GOD rest your soul.
