Condolences to the family! Reverend Armstead (Mr.Armstead as I would call him) he will truly be missed. Working with Asha the these last 7 years you have treated me like family. I will never forget The conversations we would have and the wisdom and truth you poured into me. Your jokes kept me laughing. I can hear you now saying, " hey sis how are you?" I will miss you dearly.
My deepest condolences to Sis. Marilyn, Asha, Kevin, Christina, family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this painful time. Rev. Armstead was a wonderful, kind, God Fearing and selfless man. He touched so many hearts, and opened so many minds. I am so ever grateful for the memories I have of him. May God grant you and your family the strength to bear this loss. Deacon William & Sis. Marnita Norman
My sincere condolences to the Armstead family. Pastor Armstead will be greatly missed; I will forever have fond memories of his work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope – especially to those of the household of our God. Pastor Armstead recognized the "teacher" in me when I didn't see it myself. I say "Pastor Armstead" because of his shepherd's heart as he possessed a love (agape) for God's people. Hearing Pastor Armstead in his early preaching days it was apparent his life verse was Acts 20:24; as nothing moved him, nor did Pastor Armstead count his life dear to himself, his desire was to finish his race with joy, and the ministry which he received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. You worked out your own salvation – practicing so often "it is more blessed to give than receive". My sister Marilyn please comfort your family (Asha, Prentice, Kevin (your amazing daughter in law Christina), Monique(your loving son-in-law), Terrace, and Thomas) with these words; and remind them of how much their dad loved them and how he would smile and light up if you mentioned any of their names. Brother beloved Phil– you defended the Gospel every opportunity you got. I am confident you will hear "WELL DONE my good and faithful servant!" Sola Scriptrura, Natalie A. Newson
From the Hobson family. Rest in Heaven Pastor Armstead...LaTonia Hobson.
I am very bless to have gotten to be a Sunday school student of Pastor Armstead at Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. It is will great pleasure to know that God has a place in Heaven for him.
I chose a purple candle because Phil treated everybody like they were royalty. He was ALWAYS KIND, inviting, courteous, friendly , and respectful. Marilyn, our condolences go out to you, Asha, Kevin, and the rest of the family members . "Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot Heal". We love you, Truman & Bettie Tolefree. I know you're gonna have his golf clubs bronzed😊. RIP Reverend
He was always upbeat, full of life and energetic. I remember our family reunion in San Diego, my granddaughters took to him like we did when we were kids. The last time we saw him in for the family reunion in Atlanta, the big smile on his face. That's how I will remember him. Cousin Phil I love you, rest in Christ. To him family, our family, keep the faith. Rest in knowing where he is. No more pain. 😥. I love you all.
To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord..2 Corinthians 5:8. Minister Armstead made a great impact on our church family at Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. He always ministered straight from the word of God and gave it to you unadulterated and truthful. I will always remember working as a caregiver for Asha and he would let me know to treat her like my little sister. Make her behave and represent the family well. I would always assure him that she would do just that. Rev, you and your warm smile, pleasant spirit and amazing teaching will always be a spark in my heart. To Sister Marilyn and the family. We will be continuously praying for God's Comfort and Peace to be upon you all at the time of your bereavement. Simona
I consider myself blessed to have met and become friends with Mr. Phil. He exemplified godliness at all times and was unswerving in his Christian beliefs and faith in God. He spoke kindly and with patience as he suffered towards the end. Tells me that he did not just know about God, but he knew God, and that has left a mark on my heart. I want to be at peace the same way Mr. Phil was when it's my time. Sincere condolences from me and Charles-Michael to Marilyn and the rest of the family. We love you.
We are saddened to hear of Pastor Armstead's passing, we will miss his insight and wisdom in Bible study, and how he would refer to some of us as "Doc". We are glad that this separation is but temporary, that we shall be reunited again when our Lord Jesus returns! - Danny and Maria Leung
Reverend Armstead was a man who you modeled yourself after. I am very proud and happy to have a strong Christian father figure going up. He always had words of wisdom. My favorite, "E is for extra" He'll be giving kids from the church rides home on empty tank. I miss you Reverend Armstead!!

To Marilyn, Asha, Kevin & Christina:
It is with heartfelt sympathy that we share with you words of comfort as we reminisce about all of the good times and memories that we shared with Phil at our family gatherings. We looked forward to your trips to Arkansas and our family gatherings and reunions that the Armstead Family hosted in Georgia. Phil was definitely the 'Host with the Most'. We knew that we were in for good times, much laugher, good food, fun and fellowship and great stories with Phil in the room. Going to miss his voice, his laughter, his smile, his love for family and him talking to the guys of the family and calling them 'Doc'. Two things that we knew for sure about Phil, he loved God and he loved his family. It showed in his works and his deeds.
Marilyn, hold fast to the wonderful memories that Phil created for you and Asha. Know that your family is here for you.
We pray that God will give you the strength and comfort that you need as you deal with this difficult time in your life.
Love You Cousins, The Jamisons Paul and Gaynell
