William E. Holt was born to the late Ernest Blanton Holt and Dorothy Jean Green on October 11, 1955 in Shelbyville, KY. Also preceded in death by his grandfather, Eugene Ernest Stone, who he affectionately called Dad. He is the eldest of four sons. He received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Clay Street Baptist Church, Shelbyville. He graduated Shelbyville High School, KY and later matriculated at Spencerian Business College, KY, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Simmons University, and a Masters of Divinity Degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Religion, Atlanta, and his Doctor of Ministry from Covington Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry, in 1986 by the Clay Street Baptist Church, Shelbyville, KY. While in seminary at ITC, he served as an Associate Minister to the late Reverend Dr. Ralph Abernathy, West Hunter Street Baptist Church, Atlanta. He married the love of his life of over 37 years, Jeannette Lorene Turner at the Walter’s Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Holt was employed by the Atlanta University Center, Robert Woodruff Library as a Circulation Supervisor for over 40 years before retiring. He joined and has served for many years as an Associate to the Pastor, and the Director of Ministers in Training at the Berean Christian Church and a Teacher of Sunday School for Pond Spring AME Zion Church, Lyerly where his wife serves as the Pastor. Previously, he served as an Interim Pastor, Christianburg Baptist Church, KY, Assistant Pastor, and Assistant Education Director, Clay Street Baptist Church, KY, under the pastorate of Rev. Ronald Holder, Assistant Pastor, Old Pleasant Hill Baptist, Conyers, and Coordinator of Ministers & Deacons, Springfield Baptist Church, Conyers. In 2002, he joined the Berean Christian Church, located then in Lithonia, GA. His community involvement includes working as the Night Counselor, Fulton County Health Department, Chaplain, Georgia Retardation Center, Assistant Supervisor, Valley Tow Rite, KY. Was the recipient of the Governor of Georgia Award, Distinguished Outstanding Preaching Award, and a member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. In addition, he was acknowledged in the book, “Dark Salutations,” written by Dr. Riggins Earl, Professor of Ethics and Theology, ITC. Dr. William Holt leaves to cherish precious memories his loving wife, Rev. Dr. Jeannette Turner Holt, and their daughters, Deanne DeBrady, and Aisha Dinkens (Victor), grandchildren, Denzel DeBrady, (Janelle), Dajour Williams, Layla Wright, Reign Sanabria, and Amir Dinkens. His great grands Karter DeBrady, Milani Williams, his brothers, Richard Green, Tommy Green, (Lettie) Thorest Skinner, and Michael Stone and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Celebration of Life Service for Rev. Dr. William Holt, of Lithonia, GA, will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:00 Noon; Berean Christian Church, 2201 Young Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30088.
Interment; Kennedy Memorial Gardens.
A public viewing will be one hour prior to service.

Dr. Holt was a great teacher, preacher, and friend. His support and words of encouragement have been my strength down through the years, and I will continue to hold memories of our conversations within my heart. Rest well, my brother.
Dr. Holt was my instructor, at Berean, when I was called to minister. He was a wealth of knowledge and always challenged us to dig deeper. I will truly miss him. Well done Dr. Holt! ❤️🙏🏽
