Andrew W. Brown, III was born on May 26, 1955, in Wurzburg Germany, to First LT Andrew W. Brown, Jr. and Jean Marie Brown. He went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2022, at home in Douglasville, GA. Andrew had an infectious laugh and he never meet a stranger. He left a lasting warm impression on everyone he meet. He was giving, generous, and always telling funny stories and jokes. He loved seeing others enjoying themselves. A true sports fanatic; Andrew could not wait for the different seasons to change, and to be able to watch two games at once. Andrew grew up in Alachua and Gainesville, FL, and at about 15 years old, he moved to Atlanta, GA with his mother and sister. He attended Southwest High School in Atlanta. He affectionately spoke of his alma mater Morehouse College and being a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. He received his Master of Arts from Central Michigan University in Hawaii. Andrew was also a 32-Degree Mason with More Light Lodge #468 of Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the State of Carolina and Prince Hall Military Lodge #141 in Korea. First Sergeant Brown’s heart was dedicated to the United State Army for 24 years. He had numerous duty assignments overseas, and stateside. He was station in Alaska, South Carolina, Georgia, Africa, and three tours in Korea. After retiring in 2000, Andrew found his calling as an Instructor for JROTC at Haralson County High School for 17 years. He repeatedly said, “It is all about the kids”. Andrew gave his life to Christ at an early age (Saint Luke Ann AME - Alachua, FL) after moving to Gainesville, FL, he regularly attended Greater Bethel AME Church with his father. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, in Villa Rica, GA from 2008 until present. Andrew was a very valuable member using his God given gifts as being their photographer and Sunday School Teacher. Andrew enjoyed socializing with good friends, giving house parties, taking pictures of everyone; especially his children, grandkids and his church family. He loved music and became a DJ while stationed in Korea. He had an extensive collection of music and movies, and treasured them all. Andrew W. Brown, III was preceded in glory by his mother, Jean Marie Brown; maternal grandparents: Herman and Mildred Williams; and fraternal grandparents: Andrew and Effie Brown. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce Marie Brown; father, Andrew W. Brown, Jr. (Rutha) of Gainesville, FL; his mother-in-law, Carrie W. Brown of Gretna, LA; four sons: Andrew W. Brown, VI (Brandy) of Winston-Salem, NC, Christopher W. Brown and Ian P. Brown (Kelsey) of Charlotte, NC, and Gregory Gibson, Jr. (Clarrisa) of Austin, TX; and daughter, Danielle Gibson-Julien of Riverdale, GA. He also leaves six grandchildren: Collen Brown, Paige, Nadia, Caleb, Saniya and Jordyn Julien; one uncle, James Brown (Yvonne); sister, Pamela Daniel (Lee) and three nephews: Clinton and Neil Grant of Carrollton, GA; Airman Shawn Brown (Naval Air Station, Lemoore, CA USN); and three other brothers-in-law: Tom (Ceola), Norvell (Pamela), and Reginald (Patricia) Brown. He also leaves to mourn his closes friends: Reverend James and Patricia Fitzgerald, Mark Arnold, George and Brenda Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews; other family and friends.
