We are family. When one aches, we all do. Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our cousin Gerald. I think I can say that collectively we remember how loquacious he was, smiling and always had a project. The Chicago Jackson, Kenton, Baggett and Murray families

This is still unreal & hard to conceive. Papa G was the name we came up with, because you always wanted to be dubbed the cool grandad & that you absolutely were. From babysitting, to attending school functions, to attending birthday parties, to sending random gifts, to the ATL trips, to weekly flea market runs, to movie dates, to the jazz lessons, to the family functions you made sure she was included in, to planning out her entire academic future, lol, you were the GREATEST grandpa to Eden!!! Thank you for always being consistent & encouraging me as a single mom that I was doing an awesome job with your "Biscuit". This is a hard pill to swallow, but we will make it our business to cherish every memory & forever keep you in our hearts. I'll do my best to continue to make sure your granddaughter becomes the best young woman she can be. We love you forever & always, GiGi & Eden (Biscuit)💙

What I remember about Gerald is he was always in good spirits and full of life. He was one of my moms favorite cousins. I was young but I remember all the times he came around he would be smiling from ear to ear, cracking jokes, and also entertained the kids as well. I'm sure My mom will be happy to see you and even though you are gone in the physical your spirit will co to us to live through us. Thank you for blessing us with your presence and I ask that you watch over us until we meet on the other side. Love you❤️

So sorry to hear of the passing of my friend and Altgeld Gardens neighbor Gerald. Whenever I was in the ATL I would always reach out to Gerald and we would connect and have lunch. What a wonderful picture of Gerald - it reflects the kind generous stylish fun-loving person that he was. I met Gerald through Lorna and it was a pleasure to know him. He always spoke about his family, his work family, and the many people that he met during his walk. Gerald always showed such composure and leadership. I know that he will be greatly missed by many. I'm still in shock because I can't believe Gerald is gone. I'll always remember your beautiful smile and I'll never forget you. You were such a kind and gentle person and we had so much fun together. I remember our long conversation because we could talk about anything and we would be on the phone for hours. But just remember that he is just sleeping and he is in jehovah's memory and that one day in the future jehovah will tell him its time to wake up to life on a paradise earth. From allowing  Donell and I to pretend to drive your little car, to taking me to one of my first concerts, to talking about our weird love of "cute" frogs, to talking about both of our future business ventures. No matter the situation, you always found a way to make me laugh. Thank you for the many phone calls and visits just to make sure I was ok. Thank you for being the person I could talk to about any and everything. 

I'm truly heart broken that I can no longer pick up the phone or shoot you a quick text to ask you a question. However, I know you lived your life your way and that you loved me. I KNOW you're going to have them cracking up in heaven and still trying to bring the cabbage patch dance back :)
