Obituary For Allen Hollie, Sr.

Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Allen Hollie, Sr., of Douglasville, GA, will be Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10:00AM; St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, 1558 Venetian Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30311.

Interment; Crestlawn Memorial Park.

A public viewing will be Friday, February 10, 2023 from 4:00-8:00PM at Willie A. Watkins Historic West End Chapel.

Allen Lee Hollie, Sr. of Southwest Atlanta, departed this life on Saturday, February 4, 2023, following a brief illness. Allen was born on December 4, 1957, to Earl T. Hollie of Lake City, Florida, and Glocester Allen Hollie of Summerhill. Allen attended the Atlanta Street Academy, where he met and fell in love with Shirley McLaughlin. They married on June 16, 1978, and to their union, three children were born, Allen Jr., Justin, and Shirmeka. Allen was a carpenter by trade, an ordained minister, a freemason, and a writer. He was no stranger to challenges and trials; moving in and out of Georgia correctional facilities for the majority of his adult life. However, in the midst of his struggles, he experienced major victory in the accomplishments of obtaining his Associate of Science degree from the Georgia Military College, a Bachelor of Theology degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, and writing his first book, Redeemed; A Redemptive Process Initiative Program for Returning Citizens. Allen Lee Hollie Sr. will be lovingly remembered by his children, Reverend Dr. Allen Hollie, Jr. (Monetia), Dr. Shirmeka Hollie Legentus (Weguel), his sisters, Antoinette Elaine Pace (Earnest), and Minnie E. Williams, his grandchildren; Dajonah, Justin Jr., Kendall, Eymon and Ryhan, special niece and nephew; Chikita Johnson and Eric Pace, as well as a host of other very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glocester G. Hollie and Earl T. Hollie, and his siblings; James Benjamin Hollie, Sr., Calvin Hollie, Sr., Earl Hollie, Sr., David Hollie, Sr., and Ronnie L. Hollie, as well as his son, Justin D. Hollie, Sr.
