Philip Leon Gaynor age 75, lost his battle with cancer at home on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.
Philip was born May 25, 1947, he was the second child born to Robert & Anita Gaynor. He graduated from Castleberry High School in 1965, and spent a year attending UT Arlington before joining the United States Air Force.
Phil married his high school sweetheart, Kay Jones, in March 1967. Thanks to a friend in assignments, he spent the next two year at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, TX. After welcoming the couple's first child, Phil was deployed to Kun San Air Base in Korea. His final year in the military was spent at Travis Air Base in Fairfield, CA.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, the couple welcomed their second child. Over the next few years, Phil worked to complete his BS Degree from TWC & his MS from TCU. Upon completing his education, Phil was employed with General Portland Cement Company in Fort Worth, TX. This was the beginning of a long, happy career in the building material industry. The family soon welcomed two more children.
Phil enjoyed playing on a men’s softball league in Azle, TX. He also volunteered to drive the rural community ambulance, umpired little league baseball, refereed kids football and soccer. He also enjoyed snow skiing with his family, dancing and travel. Phil has been described by many as “a classic Southern Gentleman”.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Gaynor.
Phil is survived by his sister Susan Gaynor; and two brothers Kim Gaynor and wife Cheryl and Oran Gaynor and wife Carolyn. He is also survived by his wife Kay; and four children Amy Gaynor-Spivey and husband Sam, Kevin Gaynor and partner Felicia Ross, Ashleigh Gaynor and Courtney Gaynor and husband Nick; 10 beautiful grandchildren, Kenly Foust, Jake Foust, Natalie Boone, Kyler Gaynor, Olivia Boone, Chelsea Lopiccolo, Colton Lopiccolo, Carsyn Lopiccolo, Charley Lopiccolo, Carter Lopiccolo, Camryn Lopiccolo, Charlotte Foust and Alice Foust.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Philip to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
