On January 6, 1964, Valerie, a beautiful bundle of Joy was born to the late Tommie and Carrie Myles in Jackson, Mississippi. Valerie was the second of four children born to their union. Her earthly journey ended on October 25, 2021 in Fayetteville, N.C. Valerie began her formal education in the Jackson Public School District; before relocating to Fayetteville, North Carolina and attending Cumberland County School System as her father served in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Valerie was a proud 1982 graduate of William B. Murrah High School. At an early age, Valerie joined and was baptized at the Evangelist Temple Church of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Joseph P. Johnson. Valerie’s Grandmother, Mother Margaret Allen, a founding member of the church, cemented her upbringing in the eyes of the Lord. While visiting Mississippi during the summer, Mother Allen made sure she remained active and participated in the Evangelist Temple Junior Church Department under the leadership of the late Elder Marvin Epting. Upon relocating back to Fayetteville, North Carolina, she united with South End Missionary Baptist Church. Valerie lived life to the fullest; filled with love, devotion and hard work. She was a long time employee with Stanley Black & Decker until the company closed in 2006. She later utilized her gift and passion of caring for others especially the elderly. She was especially known for her southern cooking. She loved coming home to Mississippi to spend time with her family; especially to cook, inviting everyone over to eat, fellowship, and love on one another. Valerie is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Henry and Elizabeth Diggs and paternal grandparents Willie Myles and Mother Margaret Allen. Valerie leaves to cherish her memories two children: Stephen (Rachelle) Myles and Nicholas Myles both of Fayetteville, NC; three grandchildren: Serenity, Stephen and Princeton Myles; four siblings: Dexter Myles of Hampton, Virginia; Eslynn Myles, Tommie Myles and Fallon (Jason) Palmer all of Jackson, MS; a very special Aunt, Mrs. Dorothy Alexander and her dear sister/cousin, Sheba L. Borden; a longtime loving, caring confidant and friend: Mr. Clarence Monk of Fayetteville, N.C.; four aunts, Willie Ruth Todd, Linda Myles, Debra Pickett, Sharon Myles; and one uncle, Clint Myles; five nieces, six nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
