Mary Lee Bogan transitioned with her life with Christ on Friday, September 4, 2020. She was born August 2, 1928 to Roy and Jean Melvin. She attended Rankin county school for her education.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Rock Star M B Church, Brandon MS under the leadership of Rev R L Luckett and was a faithful member until her health begin to fail. She served in the Mother and Choir Ministry.
She married Howard Ray Bogan of Florence MS, Feb 12, 1948 and to this union 2 children were born.
She was a homemaker, and was a domestic worker for various families across Rankin County. She was employed by the Sun -Pine Corporation of Brandon, MS. Most remember her striving ironing business that she along with her sister Mollie had for over 50 years. Mary loved to entertain in her home, and cherished family gatherings as she was a good cook.
She loved to tell jokes and keep everybody laughing. She also “loved” the old Cowboy westerns and could watch them all day long. Most people remember she and her sister Mollie sitting on the outside in conversation most of the day. She also loved to nurture and grow various kinds of flowers and plants.
Mary loved and was inspired by musician artists Ray Charles and Charles Brown.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Howard Ray Bogan; parents Roy “Cubie” and Jean Melvin; Sisters Anna Louise (Sister) Perkins, Sudie Mae (Mollie) Pearson; Brothers Roy Melvin Jr and Sidney (Sonny) Melvin.
Mary leaves to cherish her sweet memories: two loving children Bettye Lambright (Ken) of Brandon MS, Glenda (Michael) Daniels of Brandon MS; three grandchildren Nsombi Lambright (Chris) Haynes of Jackson MS, Katrina (Joshua) Steele of Brandon, MS and Marcus Daniels (Baltimore MD): three great -grandchildren Julian Lambright of Jackson MS, Bralen and Brandon Steele of Brandon MS; two Sisters-in -Law Emma Melvin of Jackson MS, Ella Rose Bogan of New Orleans, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her.
