James Earl Taylor was born on April 17, 1958, to the late Nellie Marie and Robert P. Taylor Sr. in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the oldest of eight (8) children. As he grew into a responsible young man, he was given the name "Big James," and his children called him "Big Daddy."
