Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, MS 39209.
Bernard Thigpen was born August 19, 1948 in Laurel, Mississippi to the Late Alvin and Luvera Thigpen. In 1966, he graduated from Sumner Hill High School in Clinton, Mississippi. He played on the basketball team. Bernard attended Jackson State College from 1966-68. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1971, he married Ruth Helen Henderson of Flora, Miss issippi. To their union, they had one son, Marcus Bernard Thigpen Bernard worked for Allstate Insurance Company and retired in 2000. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 50 years, Ruth Helen Thigpen; son, Marcus (Latasha) Thigpen; three grandchildren, Monique Denson, Marquesa Thigpen and Makyla Thigpen; two brothers, Ralph (Shirley) Thigpen of Houston, TX; and Roddrick (Angy Renee) Thigpen of Allen, TX; two sisters, Sundrenia Thigpen of Madison, MS and Rae Shelia Thigpen of Texarkana, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
