Ms. Georgia Sanders, 96, of Gadsden, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. She is survived by her loving family. We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
Georgia Ann Sanders was born on March 8, 1928, to the late George Sanders and Annie Barker Andrews in Selma, Alabama. Georgia was the tenth of eleven children.
At an early age, Georgia accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and became a member of Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.W. Jarrett, Reverend Dr. G.E. Robinson Sr. and Pastor Grover Robinson.
Georgia received her education at the Mount Zion Potter Station in Selma, AL.
Georgia was an entrepreneur. She owned a hot pit BBQ stand on Broad Street to the left of Goodson Church. The best sandwiches in town….. served with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and a special sauce. She sold out daily! She called it Georgia’s Café. She retired from Spring Valley, also known as Koch’s in the mid 80’s.
She later moved to Detroit with her son Phillip and became the best biscuit maker at McDonald’s in Detroit.
After coming back to her hometown she “hung up her hat” to enjoy the rest of her days with her beloved family. Thank you to our matriarch.
Georgia was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. As the Proverbs 31 woman she was; it was her passion to lead everyone to Christ. Grandmother was a woman of wisdom and a strong believer in “treating people the way you want to be treated.” (Matthew 7:12) Grandmother was fair but never a push over. She was fearless in her belief to stand up for herself as well as others. To know our “ANGEL” was to love her.
Georgia peacefully closed her eyes to eternal rest on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Riverview Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by: her loving parents, George Sanders and Annie Barker Andrews; children Roger J. Flambo Sr., George E. Flambo, Diane Flambo-Roden, Edna Sanders-Ray; her grandchildren Rodney Rhoden, Stanley Flambo Jr., Jamychal Howard, and Curtis Buggs; her siblings, Chatman Barker, Mattie Bell Moore, Fred Moore, Hattie Moore, Mary Frances Moore, Dotree Sanders, Turner Sanders, George Sanders, Jake Sanders, and Annie D. Flambo, Marshal Ann Flambo and Roger Flambo Jr.; 17 grandchildren, Frederick, Pashenia, Darlene (Ronald), Rena, Randy (Tia), Niecy (Nick), Kyle, Tiros, Michael, Shawn, Rena, Tina (Wilbert), Trena, Dott (Edward), Rachel (Ray), Stephen and Thaddeus; 51 great grandchildren; special nephew, Eugene Albert and a host of other relatives and friends.
