Mrs. Cassie Ash ,72, of Gadsden, AL, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
She is survived by her loving family.
Mrs. Cassie “Marilyn” Ash was born on July 28, 1952 in Gadsden, AL, to the late Mr. George M. Edwards & Mrs. Evelyn Johnson. She received her education from Carver High School and Gadsden High School.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of was a member of Attalla #1 AOH. She later moved her membership to Lighthouse Church COOLJC.
She loved to decorate her church for different functions. She was passionate and loved to be around her grandchildren and family. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a passion. She loved her daily coffee with a shot of espresso, and she loved being at church, it was her second home. She wore the title of “Family Keeper” and she wore it well. Anytime we needed something put up, we gave it to mom. She was very family oriented. She loved to bake pound cakes and her famous lemon pies.
Marilyn had a heart for people and had a ministry outside of the church where she fed people every chance she had. She was a part of the Community Service in the summertime.
Her favorite scripture was, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. George M. Edwards and Mrs. Evelyn Johnson; her husband, Mr. Jerry Ash; Son, Ferris Edwards; brother, Johnathon Johnson and grandson, Charlie Terrell.
Marilyn leaves her beautiful memories to cherish to: Her daughter, Andremika (Mastral) Alfred; Sons, Andre (Alijah) Ash and Antonio Ash; Sisters, Nay (Ray) Hendrix, Janice (Byron) Brissett and Beverly Ann Edwards; Brothers, Charles Johnson and VJ Edwards; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; God-daughters, Bridgette Crenshaw and Markeita Ayers; Special cousin, Meschelle Love; Special Grandson, Antarious Ash and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
We ask that you please keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Mission Baptist Church.
