Mrs. Annie Y. Thomas, 86, of Gadsden passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. She is survived by her family. We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
Mrs. Annie Y. Thomas was born on May 22, 1937, to Mr. Jadie Young and Ms. Frandces Sanford. She was born in Elmore County (Wetumpka, AL) but resided here in Gadsden, AL. Mrs. Annie received her education in the Elmore County School System. A few of the things she enjoyed doing were cooking for the whole neighborhood, cleaning, and taking care of her family and other kids that came over to the house. She was such a loving, caring, and supportive person; your relation to her made no difference, she had the biggest heart towards others! A couple of her favorite sayings were “I’m just sitting here looking at these 4 walls”, and she would ALWAYS say “if it’s the good Lord’s will”. Mrs. Annie was very compassionate about her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Jadie Young and Frances Sanford; Aldoris Young, Lucy Mae Young, Oneal Young Sr., Jadie Young Jr., Grace Lee Young, David Lee Young, Claudie Young, and Annie Jean Young; two daughters Julendar Benson and Bridgett Thomas.
Mrs. Annie leaves to cherish her precious memories her children Francenia Thomas of Cartersville, GA., Wesley (Sharon) Thomas, Jay Dale Thomas, James Thomas, Cathy Thomas, Jackie (Rex) Ash, Yvonne Thomas, Jimmie Thomas, and Christine Thomas Byers all of Gadsden, AL., Brothers Aldozier Young of Birmingham, AL., and Arthur Young (Addie Mae) of Gadsden, AL.
Public Visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 12noon-6pm, with Family Hour 5pm-8pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 16th Street Baptist Church at 11:00 am.
