Gabriel Hill, 46, passed away on June 4, 2023. He is survived by his family. We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers.
Today we gather to Celebrate the life of Gabriel Andre Hill of Gadsden, Alabama. Gabe, was born on December 31, 1976 to the late James A. Hill, Sr. and Theresa Thomas Hill in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His Heavenly Father, in his divine love and wisdom, called him home, on Sunday, June 4, 2023.
As a child, his family lived in Tennessee and Pennsylvania before settling back in Alabama. Educated in the Dekalb and Etowah school systems, with the latter dominating. As an Etowah Blue Devil, #32, was a force to be reckoned with, the football field was his domain. Gabriel, and his fellow teammates, lead Etowah to multiple championships, awards, and accolades. He was also chosen to be a part of Alabama’s high school All-State football team. Mississippi Gulf State Community College, awarded Gabriel a scholarship, thus allowing him to continue doing what he loved. His football prowess garnered him such nicknames as Syd Vicious and Cypress Hill.
Gabriel was everyone’s friend, everyone’s little brother, everyone’s nephew, and many peoples’ son. He never met a stranger. To know Gabe, was to love him. His extra large frame and towering stature, provided the greatest, most soul-filled hugs. Gabriel was definitely the best hugger. That infectious smile and laugh, can never be forgotten. An avid music lover, he would listen to music of all genres from Motown to Bruce Springsteen. Alabama football, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and eating good food were just a few of the many, many things that Gabe loved. Mr. Hill lived his life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death: by his father, James A. Hill, Sr. Grandparents John Henry and Vera Hill; Howard and Bonita Thomas.
Memories will be honored and cherished by: his mother, Theresa T. Hill; his son, Eric James Hill; his sister, Phaedra (Joni) Hill-Lazenby; his brother, James(Zodia) A. Hill, Jr.; his uncles, Howard (Denise) Thomas, Michael Hill, Walter Thomas, Zatchery (Brenda) Thomas; his aunts, Linda Hill, Brenda Dunning, Phyllis Ledford, Wanda Chatman, Deborah Hill, Zeborah (Samuel) Thompson, Alexis Thomas and Rhonda West; his nephews and nieces, Cory (Chasity) D.
