Mrs. Mary Lewis Thaxton, 81, of Gadsden, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. She is survived by her loving family. We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
Mrs. Mary Lewis Thaxton was born on July 5, 1942, to Mary Kate and Eugene Lewis in Gadsden, AL. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and united with the Damascus Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L. A. Warren. She later moved to Friends and Family Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Mattie Ingram.
Mary was a Carver High School graduate in the class of 1959. She was employed at Hall’s Kindergarten where she touched the lives of many children at such an early age. On December 21, 2023, our mother was called by her Father in Heaven, and she answered.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Kate Lewis and Eugene Lewis, and three of her sisters Lottie Lewis, Algene Jackson and Mattie Louise Lewis.
