The Obituary

Mr. Jonathan Keith Collins, son of Bertha and Sammy Collins was born March 7, 1959. Jonathan received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. G.E. Robinson. Jonathan graduated from Gadsden High School class of 1976 and attended Alabama A&M University for 3 ½ years. Jonathan was an excellent student who excelled in science and art with a love and talent for drawing and painting. Upon his return to Gadsden, he began a career Goodyear Tire & Rubber. He soon married Elaine Jelks and to this union two children were born Keitha and Jonathan Jr. Jonathan departed this life March 25, 2022. He was preceded in death by his dear cousins Anita Davis and Anthony Todd Hammond, aunt Geraldine White, grandparents Amos and Everee Street and Corinthia and Leroy Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted parents Bertha and Sammy Collins Gadsden, AL; daughter Keitha Jonae Collins, Hueytown, AL; son, Jonathan Keith Collins Jr, Gadsden, AL; granddaughter, Alexis Collins, Birmingham, AL; loving brother, Stephen Christopher (Kizzy) Birmingham, AL; Special cousins, Dejuan Hammond and Adreana Hammond, both of Birmingham, AL; Aunts Shirley (Andrew) Haynesworth, Birmingham, AL, Raynell Collins, Alfretta Collins, Gadsden, AL, and Lucy Ann (Jessie) Hoyt; devoted and loving Uncle and Aunt Amos and Sherri Street uncles A.C. Collins Gadsden, Al Thedore Collins Gadsden, Al great aunt Annie Ruth Mcclain Anniston, Al great uncle Robert Street Ashland, Al. A special thanks to MICU unit 3 rd floor doctors and nurses at Gadsden regional hospital and a special thanks to nurse Hunter your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Thanks to the staff and residents at Meadowood Retirement and Assisted living Facility for the kindness and love shown to Jonathan.
