Retired SGT James Edward Hann was born on December 18, 1952 to the late Ollie Mae Hann and the late Mr. Johnny Bussey Jr. in Randolph County. At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ. Over the years and throughout his walk in faith with Christ, he continued to develop his relationships as he touched many lives.
On a Saturday morning, February 11, 2023, SGT Hann was at home surrounded by his loving family when he received his wing from Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior.
SGT Hann graduate high school and attended Gadsden Technical College.
On June 22, 1972, SGT Hann joined the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He received his high school diploma in 1977 while he was yet in the Army. SGT Hann was a highly decorated officer and obtained many honors, including, Army Good Conduct Medal/ Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal/ National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award)/ Armed Forces Reserved Medal with “M” Device/ Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2/ Army Service Ribbon/ Overseas Service Ribbon. SGT Hann enjoyed fishing, BBQing, and working outside with plants and flowers.
On December 3, 2016, he entered into Holy Matrimony with Mrs. Vivian Ann Hann.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Ollie Mae Hann; Father, Johnny Bussey Jr.; Brothers, Joseph Hann and Gary Hann; Son, James Hann Jr. SGT Hann leaves to cherish his beautiful and loving memories to: His loving, caring, and dedicated wife, Mrs. Vivian Ann Hann of Gadsden, AL; Daughters, Michelle (Marks) Hann and Perchelle (Marks) Hann; Granddaughter, Tatyana Hann of Huntsville, AL; Special sister, Sakuyna (Secretary) Morris of Anniston, AL; Brothers, Calvin (Sandra) Hann of Gadsden, AL and George Hann of Danville, VA; Aunts, Annie Lee Hann of Roanoke, AL and Dorothy Lindsey of Gadsden, AL; In-laws, Walter (Ann) Spidell, Sue (Sammy) Herron, Ms. Lillie May Chapman, Dorothy Chapman, Gloria Chapman, Sybil Ann Owens and Billie (Amber) Chapman. Special friends, Victor Payne, Diane (Terry) Hogg, Mary Hawkins, and Dorothy Baums; Special nephew, Dennis Stewart; Special cousins, Sally Loyd Finch, Tommy Hicks, Charles Hicks, and James Hicks; Special companion, Nee Cee Hann and a host of other family members and friends.
Public viewing will be Monday, February 20, 2023 from 4pm-6pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 1:00pm Eulogist: Pastor Harold Kimble Interment: Alabama National Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of West Gadsden Funeral Home. 256-549-0004
