Lorenza Thornton was born on March 13, 1955, to the late Paul and Bessie Thornton in White Plains, Georgia. Lorenza, affectionately called 'Lo', along with his twin sister, Berenza McElderry, were the youngest of seven children.
He graduated from Greene County High School in Greensboro, Georgia before eventually moving to Atlanta, Georgia. He resided in Atlanta, Georgia until the mid 1990's, then returned to his hometown roots of Greene County. Upon his return, he began working at the local Mill for employment.
Lorenza joined White Plains Second Baptist Church at an early age. He served faithfully and enjoyed singing in various quartet groups with his brothers. Rabbit hunting was his favorite pastime hobby. If you were lucky, he would share his impeccable sense of humor that was often masked by his reserved demeanor.
In his later years, Lo's health began to decline in 2018, which left to him residing at Pruitt Health's long-term care facility in Ellenwood, GA until his passing. He leaves to cherish his son, Lorenza Thornton, and his grandson, Locari Boyd. He also leaves behind three devoted sisters, Berenza McElderry (his twin sister) of Decatur, GA, Mrs. Addie Bowden (Robert Bowden) of Decatur, GA, and Mrs. Pauline Heath of Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law, Emma Thornton of White Plains, GA, one loving and dedicated brother, Charlie Thornton of White Plains, GA. He is preceded in death by his two older brothers, JC Thornton and George Thornton. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
