Even in the midst of going through some storms in his life, Breeze did not quit or give up. He held on to his faith until the Lord said, “come on home". Breeze departed this earthly life at his home on January 8th, 2024 at the age of 61.
Donald Allen Vaughn was born on January 14th, 1962, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the parents of Richard and Emma Sawyers Vaughn
Donald Allen “Kool-Breeze” Vaughn leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Valerie Vaughn; daughters, Cynthia Vaughn and Janese Vaughn; brother, Richard (Tina) Vaughn; 2 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a host of devoted family and friends.
Kool-Breeze will lie in state on, Friday, January 12, 2024 from 12 until 6 at the funeral home.
Funeral service, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12 Noon at Limestone Missionary Batpist Church, 1613 West Main Street Franklin, Tennessee.

Breeze was the first UIC to allow me to umpire a tournament. To say I wasn't as confident as he was is an understatement. But he told me "you'll be fine" and put me on a field. That was several years ago and I still umpire for him. That smile and those corny jokes were non-stop. Breeze you will be missed. Your presence was bigger than the game itself.

Love and prayers for the family and friends of Kool Breeze. We have cried that we won't see him again at Legacy and Oakview. My 4th grader said "Kool Breeze was the best guy ever and he was super funny and sweet and I loved his dance moves and I miss him". After watching the tribute video again my 7th grader said "Now I want the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl ". Kool Breeze holds a place in my families hearts.
I first met Breezy about five years ago at an Independent Sports Association (ISA) Seniors Softball World Series Tournament in Columbus, Indiana. This unassuming, nice man was always around his friends, exchanging good-natured jabs, while protecting his aquaintances fiercely.
During the ISA tournaments, he served proudly as a tournament director, who looked out for his umpires' welfare. During subsequent ISA tournaments in Columbus and Dalton, Georgia, I looked forward to seeing "Breezy."
I will continue to "see Breezy" at future ISA tournaments that I'm fortunate enough to attend. He was a terrific person, who was the ultimate description of a loyal and honorble man.
May God bless and comfort his family and friends, while providing a "Balm of Gilead" for healing as they "live through the coming days." During these times, I'm often reminded of some very special thoughts from my favorite writer, Ms. Maya Angelou.
These profound words fit Breezy perfectly. I'm convinced that Ms. Angelou was thinking about people like Breezy when she penned the words, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Breezy always made my day the best day, and created an aura for enjoying life.
I will miss my friend, but will always have him on the list of the many people who have blessed my life. Not only did he make me feel special, he made me realize how wonderdful human beings can be when they commit to a life of serving others.
God bless this wonderful man, and may God continue to bless and comfort his family. God bless you man, and may you have peace and comfort in heaven, as your family and friends here on earth draw comfort from your memory.

As my children's crossing guard at Legacy, we always knew we were in safe hands with Kool Breeze. He was an example of doing a job with pride and excellence, until the job was completed. We are grateful we had those short minutes with him for many mornings! Blessings to his family and friends.

Sending prayers for peace and comfort to the family of Mr. Donald! Thank you for sharing him with our community! We got to enjoy him as the crossing guard at Oak View and a ref at flag football games for the YMCA and are thankful for his contribution to our children's lives. As the daughter of a school crossing guard, I grew up with an appreciation for Mr. Donald's job, and know from first hand accounts how difficult and thankless it can be. My children aren't often car riders but any time they were he always provided a safe environment with a touch of entertainment for us parents watching him squeeze as many cars on the premises as possible! A friend put it best when reminiscing him saying, "If Donald isn't yelling "MOVE UP" and blowing a whistle at the pearly gates, I don't want in!" I can see it in my minds eye and look forward to that sweet day!

Mr Donald has been a daily constant in our lives every morning for the past several years in car line. He is someone you always look forward to seeing and just had a positive light about him - (until you drove too fast or weren't paying attention!)
