We send our sincere condolences to Kesha and family. Uncle Shorty showed me how to play a guitar back in 1967 or so when they lived in Paterson, NJ. He was always a happy person and always sharing with others. He will be sadly missed. Yet beautiful memories of him and Aunt Cleo will forever remain close in my heart and mind. Mr. Shorty and Mrs. Cleo were neighbors of ours when they lived in Columbia. She kept our children at her Daycare. Mr. Shorty was a gentle soul and always smiling when I saw him. Now they are back together again, rest In Peace and they will truly be missed. Gone but not forgotten! 🙏🏽❤️

The race was complete. Mr. Hayes did an amazing job here in the flesh. So proud of the man my brother (Curtis Hayes) is because he learned from the BEST! May your spirit live on and you continue to touch others. Prayers to the Hayes family.

I always knew him as Mr. Shorty. He encouraged me to try truck driving at a time when few women did this. Whenever you saw him, he was always smiling.
