Obituary For Elliot Steven Suber

Elliott Steven Suber passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, at the age of 78. He was born on April 19, 1945, in Polk County, North Carolina to parents Katherine Fox and Elliott Caldwell Suber. He was affectionately called “Steve” by his family and friends. Steve was the eldest of nine children. They grew up in his maternal grandmother’s “Big Ma” home on Livingston Rd. in Tryon, NC. Big Ma’s home was filled with enormous amounts of love, discipline, outstanding food, and a host of family and friends.

Steve graduated from Edmond Emory High School in Tryon, NC in 1966. He soon met and married Sharon L. Nickens. From this union, they were blessed with a son Steve Shea Suber, and he became the stepfather to Sharon’s son Kevin D. Burgin. Steve was also blessed with two beautiful daughters Sandra Evans and Tiana Logan Suber, and another handsome son, Maurice Foxworth. Although Steve displayed a quiet, gentle spirit, he was a great protector of his family and friends.

Steve and Mary Lou Miller were the devoted foster parents to three siblings, Stence Robinson, Antonituis “Buddy” Robinson (deceased), and Star Robinson. He was also a loving father figure to Mary Lou’s daughters Genease Miller Hannon and Marilyn “Monk” Cannady (deceased).
Throughout his life, Steve worked in the textile industry and as a long-haul truck driver. He relocated to Forest City, North Carolina, and lived there until the onset of his illness. He then moved to Tryon N.C. where he was lovingly cared for by his brother Calvin and his wife Doris.

His dedication to his family and friends was evident in everything he did. He was a father like figure to his siblings and a mentor to many in his community. Steve loved football and watching his family members play on high school, college, and professional-level teams.

He was a loving son and a great companion to his mother throughout his life, especially after the passing of her husband. You would often find them sitting on her porch for hours talking or supportively sitting in silence.

Steve was a loving father to Sandra Evans, Steve Shea Suber, Maurice Foxworth, Tiana Logan, and Kyesha Logan. He also was a grandfather to his two beautiful grandchildren, Tyler Evans and Lauryn Suber.

Family angels who proceeded Steve in death are welcoming him home with loving open arms are his parents, Katherine Suber Canady, Elliott Suber, sister, Helen Louise Suber, brother, Johnny L. Suber, sister, Judy Ann Westbrooks Burgin, niece, Veronnica Suber, maternal grandmother. Iona Berry-Fox, son, Antonituis “Buddy” Robinson, maternal & paternal grandparents, several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

His strong, loving, caring, protective and quiet spirit will live on in the hearts of his children Sandra Evans (Renardo) Accokeek, MD, Steve Shea Suber, Detroit, MI, Maurice Foxworth (Cynthia) Buffalo, NY, Tiana Sharice Logan Suber and Kyesha Logan Forest City, NC, brother, James O. Suber (Gerlene) Chattanooga, TN, brother William Calvin Suber (Doris) Tryon, NC, sister Carolyn Annette Burgin (Jimmy) Fayetteville, GA, sister Brenda K. Chavers (Amos) Lancaster, NY, and brother Robert L. Suber (Hafiza) Charlotte, NC, and a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Steve's strong, loving, and quiet spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
