Mr. Richard “Rick” Lee Stephenson Jr. 63 of Milner went to be with the Lord on April 17 at home surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be held in the Providence Chapter at Rock Springs Church 1005 Chappel Mill Road Milner on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 1pm and the celebration follows afterward. Pastor Benny Tate will be the officiant.
Rick began his earthly journey on June 13, 1960, in Lafayette, Indiana. He was the son of the now departed Mr. John Pavich and Sarah Ellen Shotts and later adopted by Mr. Richard Lee Stephenson. He went to schools in Florida, Georgia, and Indiana. He attended North Montgomery High School in Indiana and graduated with the class of 1978 from Vienna High School in Georgia. As a young lad he attended the New Richmond United Methodist Church where participated in youth group activities. Rick became a member of Rock Springs Church in Milner, Georgia, where he served in various ministries.
Rick entered the workforce as a truck driver hauling cattle to Texas and Chicago. He entered politics and was elected to the council seat in Byromville, Georgia. He also managed Butts Mill Farm in Pine Mountain, Georgia. His last place of employment was RA Hinkle II in Griffin as office manager. He loved his Lamar County Republican Party and served as a Poll Officer. He was also a member of Lamar County Board of Equalization.
He was preceded in death by a brother Mr. John Patrick Stephenson, Mother Sarah, Father John, and Dad Richard. Rick leaves a lifetime of memories in the hearts of his wife Mrs. Deborah Bradbury Stephenson of Milner, daughters Anne (Chris) Holmes of Columbus, and Danielle Stephenson of Hogansville, grandchildren Ilana, Jacob, Katalina, sisters, Julie (Steve) Spencer, and Janet (John) Fogleman, and brother, Michael (Jill) Stephenson, He was loved by all.
