Ms. Marrie Ann Brownlee, affectionately known as “Mary Ann”, was born to the late Mr. Robert Lewis Brownlee and the late Ms. Mary Jeanette Flewellen-Brownlee on November 24, 1966 in Griffin, GA. She attended school in the Lamar County School System, graduating with the Lamar County Comprehensive High School Class of 1985. Mary began her 30+ year career in the food industry while earning her high school diploma. She served as a Nutritionist/Nutrition Manager for the Lamar County School System. She was also known for catering a plethora of events and serving her coveted recipes of famous chicken dressing, decadent red velvet cakes, and sweet potato pies that were sold during the holidays and throughout the year. Mary was a member of the Rehoboth Deliverance Center Church of God in Christ of Barnesville, GA, under the leadership of the late Murphy Pace III and the late Mother Bettie Ann Pace, where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Mary had a great sense of humor and was a light to many. She was known for calling anyone or item by the first name that came to her mind. There was not a moment when she went into town and was not recognized by one of her many colleagues, friends made along her journey, and her large extended family. Mary was the long-term caregiver of her late mother, who she faithfully cared for until her death. She was also known for her love of babies, as she was responsible for babysitting dozens of infants for many families in the community. On Monday, July 6, 2020, the Lord decided that it was time for Mary to trade in her apron for a set of wings. She transitioned peacefully at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Brownlee and Donald Brownlee. Mary leaves to cherish her memories a loving family to include a brother, Mr. Lewis (Marilyn) Brownlee of Barnesville, GA; aunts, Ms. Carolyn Merritt of Canton, GA, Mrs. Gail (James) Harrison, Ms. Tracey Few, Ms. Diane Hobbs all of Barnesville, GA, Ms. Geraldine Montgomery of Griffin, GA, and Mrs. Mary Brownlee-Watts of East Point, GA; uncles, Mr. Lezette Flewellen of Griffin, GA, Mr. Dennis (Karen) Flewellen of Barnesville, GA, Mr. Johnny Will Few of Barnesville, GA, Mr. Gary Mays of Chattanooga, TN, Mr. Fred Brownlee of East Point, GA, and Mr. James Brownlee of Griffin, GA; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Brownlee of Barnesville, GA and Mrs. Vickie Brownlee of Yatesville, GA; an honorable mention godson, Donavan Brownlee; and a host of nieces and nephews that will deeply miss her.
