Ms. Linda Gail Simmons passed on Sunday, October 30, 2022. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Trice Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at West Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Trice Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of all professional services . The Life of Linda Gail Simmons Life is often described as a race to be ran. However, the race of life , unlike the physical race with the fastest runner winning, is given not to the swiftest one but to the one who endures until the end. I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT Born to the late Mordecai Simmons, Sr., and the late Sallie Mae Mc Michael Simmons. Lind Gail Simmons began her race in life June 26, 1958, and she ran with patience the race set before her. She endured until the end when she made her triumphant transition on October 29, 2022 at 11:20 P.M. While Linda fought valiantly the last three months of her life after her diagnosis, her entire race in life was one of courage. She often won in life crossing many finishing lines, and even in this final race, she still won. She has now gained eternal victory by reaching the ultimate finishing line.

I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE Linda Gail Simmons finished her course. She ran and played with her childhood friends. She then soon learned that life was more than fun and games. She enjoyed life to the fullest, yet she took it seriously. She grew, studied, and worked during her course of life. A 1976 graduate of Lamar County High School, she also attended Savannah State College. She returned home to Barnesville, Georgia, where her intelligence, skills, and personality charted her course of employment in various capacities in the community. She was most recently employed with Vernay Laboratories. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, watching anything on the ID Channel, cooking, and socializing. Linda spent her 64 years living her life. With her personal and spiritual affairs in order, she finished the course. I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH At an early age, Linda was taught, and she embraced that faith, which is substance of this hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith, she joined the West Mount Sinai Baptist Church under the pastorate of the later Reverend Saint John Clark. Linda’s faith sustained her through life, and she kept the faith until the very end. Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Janelle Simmons Sanders, and brothers Mordecai Simmons, Jr., and Bobby Vincent Simmons. Linda’s legacy to fight the good fight, to finish the course, and to keep the faith will forever be embraced by her beloved Simmons family, including her daughter, Mia Lindsay Walker of Jonesboro, Georgia; sisters, Shirley Simmons Smith, Martha Kate Simmons Reid, Margaret Simmons Brownlee, and Connie Simmons (Johnny) Caslin, all of Barnesville, Georgia. And Brenda Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Robert (Eva) Simmons of Lexington, North Carolina, Charles (Anita) Simmons of Savannah, Georgia, and Roger Simmons of Gainesville, Georgia; niece/sister, Michele A. Simmons; and host of other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, great-nieces and nephews whom she cherished, close friends, classmates and other friends, and cousins. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” So ends the earthly race of Linda Gail Simmons. She is now enjoying her crown. Battle Fought. Victory Won.
