Obituary For Mrs. Odessa Davis Adams Reid

Ms. Odessa Davis Adams Reid was the seventh child of eight born on August 13, 1942, unto the late Mrs. Vester Lee Casselberry Davis and the late Mr. Charlie Davis in Culloden, Monroe County, Georgia. She began her early years of education at the Sugar Hill AME Church school. She was later educated in the Lamar County School System and attended Booker High School in Barnesville, GA. She sought Christ at an early age and joined the Parker Chapel AME Church. Later in life, she reconnected back to Christ and joined the Bethel Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership Rev. James C. Marable. She retired as a Housekeeping Supervisor from the Holiday Inn in Doraville, GA.
Odessa was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Arthur Reid. She enjoyed communing with her family and will be sorely missed at family gatherings. She was very outspoken, and corrections were often given to those who would receive it. She was a true believer in “Iron Sharpens Iron.” Those who knew her understood that it came from a place of love. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her two children, Mrs. Delores Smith and Mr. Charles Adams. Odessa’s earthly journey ended on October 10, 2023. She was called home to eternal rest. Odessa’s sweet spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, which consists of her siblings, Ms. Margaret Archer, Mr. Edward (Paulene) Davis, and Ms. Josephine Goggins all of Barnesville, GA; grandchildren, Cheree Goggins, Charles (Tammy) Ellerby, Courtney Adams, Jonas Davis, and Mr. Bernard Smith; daughter-in-law, Minister Willie Ann Adams of Griffin, GA; sisters-in-law, Ms. Rose A. Davis of Thomaston, GA and Ms. Earnestine Davis of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who all will cherish her memory.
