Mrs. Martha Whatley Andrews passed on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Trice Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Trice Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of all arrangements. Ms. Martha Whatley Andrews was born on March 13, 1945, in the Johnstonville Community of Barnesville, Lamar County, GA. She was born to the union of the late Mrs. Janie Fambro Whatley and the late Mr. L. C. Whatley. She received her education from the Lamar County School System and was a graduate of Booker High School. At an early age, Martha sought Christ and joined the Bethel Baptist Church. She loved her church and will be forever remembered for her work in the Hospitality Ministry and serving as an usher. Martha entered the workforce after her graduation. She worked for Aldora Mills/General Tire and Rubber Company in Barnesville. She retired after over 40 years of service. In her leisure, Martha loved to sew, travel, spending countless hours with her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her family and friends and appreciated every opportunity to spend time with them. She always wanted peace and harmony among her family. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Louise Whatley, Annie Maude Whatley, and Fannie J. Smith; and her brothers, Charles Whatley and Joe Whatley. On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Martha departed this earthly life and moved on to her heavenly home. While her transition saddened the hearts of her family, she has left a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever. Those memories will live on in the hearts of Martha’s family to include her children, Mr. Frederick J. Ogletree of Thomaston, GA, Mr. Michael (Amanda) Ogletree of Barnesville, GA, Mrs. Tessie (Niqua) Robinson of Covington, GA, and Ms. Crystal Hughes-Whiters of Riverdale, GA; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ms. Vera Hartsfield of Thomaston, GA and Ms. Freddie Ridgeway of Griffin, GA; one sister-in-law, Ms. Katherine Whatley of Atlanta, GA; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear neighbors and friends.
