Mother Fannie Lou Mathews Searcy was born on November 10, 1923, to the late Mrs. Sarah Dawson Mathews and the late Mr. Otis Mathews in Carsonville, Taylor County, Georgia. She received her early education in the community school in Taylor County. At an early age, she joined the Antioch Baptist Church. She served as the oldest member of the church, where she attended faithfully, as long as her health allowed. During her womanhood, she met Mr. Tony Searcy. They were married and begin their family in Taylor County. After many years of working on the farm, they moved to Thomaston for better job opportunities. She became employed with Martha Mills, where she worked until retirement. Mother Fannie enjoyed going to church, watching television, especially her gospel TV programs and games shows, talking on the phone and spending time with her family. She has an infectious laugh that would instantly put a smile on your face. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Cherry Smith and Mildred Reeves; sisters, Climmie Mae Reviere, Susie Kate Ellison, Ever Lee Howell, and Dollie Mae Russell; brothers, Henry Brown Mathews, Otha Lee Mathews and Thurman Mathews. On Friday, December 9, 2022, the Lord called her name. She answered and her spirit took flight and went home to eternal rest. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Mother Fannie is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Eunice Miller of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Florine “Doe” (Tony) Goddard of Griffin, GA, Mrs. Margie Ivey and Mrs. Linda “Fat” Sullivan both of Thomaston, GA and Mrs. Glenda “Rat” Ojeda of Griffin, GA; three sons, Mr. Jimmy Searcy of Toledo, OH, Mr. Felton “Peter” (Tracie) Searcy of Thomaston, GA and Mr. Calvin “Turtle” (Phyllis) Searcy of Newnan, GA; thirty-nine grandchildren, seventy-four great-grandchildren, sixty-three great-great- grandchildren and twelve great-great-great--grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Walker of Forsyth, GA and Mrs. Rosie Mae Carter of Thomaston, GA; three brothers, Mr. Otis “Doc” (Hattie Bell) Mathews, Jr. of Thomaston, GA, Mr. J.
