God in His Infinite Wisdom so willed for the earthly life of Fred O’Neal to begin as he was the eldest son born on March 13, 1943, to the late Roy O’Neal and Clydie Maude Goggins O’Neal in Barnesville, GA. Fred and his siblings were introduced to Christ and attended Bethel Baptist Church.
He was educated at the Booker School. Fred learned at an early age to be a provider for his family. He was tasked with assisting the rearing of his younger siblings. He began working as a young man with Mr. Henry Baker. He learned the skill of driving Eighteen Wheelers and fell in love with the highway. Fred was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Christine Lyons on March 20, 1965, in Barnesville, Lamar County. He sought employment with M. Goldstein and Sons, there he worked faithfully until retirement. He spent countless hours working on his own Chevy pick-up truck. Fred loved spending time on the lake fishing. He will be remembered most by his family for his sweet spirit and the love he had for his children and grandchildren. When his family called on him, he was there ready to meet their needs. He would often more times be called upon to cook and serve his family delicious meals. In his spare time, he loved watching his westerns, especially “Gunsmoke” and “Rifleman”. One of his favorite actors was John Wayne. Fred was looking forward to watching the football playoffs and was an avid sport watcher. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mr. Johnny Lee O’Neal and Mr. James Albert O’Neal. On December 26, 2024, Fred began his journey to eternity, he left his family a lifetime of fond memories.
Those memories will live on in the hearts of his wife, Mrs. Christine L. O’Neal; his daughters: Ms. Aleshia O’Neal and Mrs. Fredettena (Alvin) Fletcher all of Barnesville; grandchildren: Ms. Amanda Ogletree of Barnesville, Mrs. Jaimee (Curtis) Brown of Williamson and Mr. Kristopher (Juli) Fletcher of Fort Liberty, NC; great-grandchildren: Zyonna Bena’y Brown and Zaryah Rae Brown; four sisters: Ms. Clara Mae Walton, Ms. Clementine Morgan and Ms. Vivian O’Neal all of Barnesville and Ms. Linda O’Neal of Griffin; sister-in-laws: Ms. Justine Jordan of Atlanta and Ms. Dorothy Lyons of Griffin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends: Mr. Delbert Minter and Mr. John Jones Sr.
