Obituary For Mr. Charles Sidney Flowers

Mr. Charles Sidney Flowers was born to the late Mrs. Pearlie Mae Crafter Flowers and the late Mr. Sidney Washington Flowers on April 13, 1948 in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. At an early age, he joined the Salem Baptist Church. He attended school in the Upson County School System and Drake High School. He graduated from Crawford County High School with the Class of 1966. He made friends in school that lasted his lifetime. In 1969, he joined the United States Army. He served until 1972 and received an honorable discharge. After the service, he found employment with Martha Mills. He attended Upson Technical School and learned the trade of welding. He also was employed by Aldora Mills. He was a faithful and dedicated employee. Charles met Ms. Laverne Furlow, which started a long and loving relationship. On March 30, 2000, they were joined in marriage. Laverne and Charles took their vows seriously and loved each other in sickness and in health. During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, singing, listening to music, entertaining family and friends, playing checkers, and giving orders. He loved to tell you what to do, when to do it and how to do anything in love. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; Johnny Crafter, Robert L. Flowers, Willie F. Flowers, and George Flowers; and two sisters, Mary Alice Matthews and Magnolia Raines. On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, the Lord called Charles’ name. He answered and went home to rest. He will be greatly missed by his family and loving friends. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Laverne Flowers of Thomaston, GA; his son, Nicholus (Joytonya) Flowers of Thomaston, GA; other children he raised as his own, Tierra (Michael) Jackson of Chesapeake, VA, Corderro Vinson, Carol Draine and Jeannine Garland all of Thomaston, GA; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Elbert(Joann) Flowers of Decatur, GA, Elizabeth Robinson of the Salem Community, Eloise Alsobrook of Macon, GA, Caeser Flowers of Kansas City, MO and Gairy Flowers of Sparta, GA; aunts, Azzie Lee Flowers of Butler, GA and Claudette Crafter of TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie Flowers of the Salem Community, Laureine (Powell) Thornton, Larry Parker, Clementine Parker, Harry Parker, Cynthia (Robert) Walker all of Thomaston, GA, Annie Furlow of Clevenland, OH and Eleve (Lonnie) Wilder of the Salem Community ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Service were held Saturday, January 25, 2020 12:00 Noon Mary Lizzie Baptist Church Interment Church Cemetery
