Mr. Carl Anthony Colbert was born to the late Mrs. Bettye Jones Colbert and the late Mr. James Colbert on July 17, l960 in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. He attended public school in the Upson County School System and graduated from Upson High School. He joined and was baptized at Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA on March 26, 2000.
When Carl reached manhood, he joined the workforce and began working. His earlier employment was with Martha Mills, Quad Graphics and Dart. He enjoyed doing lawn care and working in the yard. He was the father of two children whom he loved dearly and the proud grandfather of seven. One grandchild preceded him in death.
During his leisure time, he loved cutting grass, spending time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren, watching basketball, football, and enjoying the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Carrease Colbert. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and his spirit took flight and returned to the Heavenly Father. His departure has saddened the hearts of his family but his memory will live on.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Andjuar Caltez (Jolandra) Colbert of Thomaston, GA and Dr. Carlisha Colbert (Dr. Andrew) Gentles of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Jaden Dubinion, Jordan Colbert, Jaeya Colbert, Khloe Walker, Drew Gentles and Emery Gentles; sisters and brothers include, Mr. Dexter (Jennifer) Colbert and Mrs. Patricia (Shelton) McQuiter both of Decatur, GA, Mr. Wendell (Birthia) Colbert of Stone Mountain, GA, Mr. Ronnie (Jennifer) Chaney of Jonesboro, GA, Mr. Robert Smith of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Sabra (Hurley) Wells of Norcross, GA, Mrs. Beverly Davis of Sierra Vista, GA and Mr. Stanley Becham of Dover, DE; an adopted sister, Mrs. Earnestine (Oscar) Zellner of Griffin, GA; several aunts and uncles; eight devoted friends, Mrs. Ella Mae Owens, Mr. Joel Colbert,
Minister Greg Stinson, Mr. Dennis Colbert, Mr. Kenneth Hollis, Mr. Rick Body, Mr. Carlos Daniely and Mr. Tim Atwater; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
