Thurman Sysvester Cross, 76 of Apex, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by family. Thurman was born to the late Harvey Ree Cross and Laura Lee Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother Coy Cross of Apex, North Carolina. Thurman was born on March 29, 1949, in Apex, North Carolina.
Thurman was a man who loved to laugh, listen to good music, dance, enjoy family time and was a HUGE UNC FAN! He watched the games every year until his health declined. In his early adult life, Thurman's work career was as a Lead Mechanic at Tipper Tie in Apex, North Carolina for many years. Thurman loved fishing and vacationing, and he traveled to San Diego, California during his time at Tipper Tie. His wife, Blondell Cross became a member of Macedonia Apostolic Church in the early 2000's and shortly thereafter, Thurman began attending Macedonia Apostolic Church and was also baptized in Jesus' name.
Thurman is survived by his wife Blondell Jacobs Cross, daughters Rachel Jacobs of Durham, NC, Sharon Thorpe (Alonzo) of Raleigh, NC and Christina Jacobs Smoke (Christiaan Smoke) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, grandchildren Terri Jacobs, Antonio Thorpe, Anthony Jacobs, Aaron Jacobs, Daisha Jacobs and Gabriel Thorpe, two great grandchildren Amilya Jacobs Lesane and Chandler Williams, sisters Carolyn Lassiter Clay (Tony) of Holly Springs, NC, Nina Jones of Durham, NC and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. We will always love you, Daddy!
Public Viewing: 1:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Visitation: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Macedonia Apostolic Church in Raleigh, NC.
Funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Macedonia Apostolic Church, 9805 Fanny Brown Road in Raleigh, NC 27603.
