Ms. Marlene βBinkyβ Harris Gilbert, was born Marlene Denise Harris in Wake County on November 27, 1967. She was the daughter of the late Evelyn McClain and James Adams. She departed this life on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Binky graduated from Apex High School in 1986. She became an active member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. Binky was also a faithful member in the Davis Spiritual Lights Ensemble. In all that she did, she was a true woman of God.
Marlene was preceded in death by her brother, Shon McClain, and special aunt, Ann Harris.
Binky leaves to cherish her memories: her former spouse, Orlando Gilbert of Raleigh, NC; five children, Eric (Carla) Richardson of Garner, NC, Orlando Gilbert II of Holly Springs, NC, Amber (Marquis) Roberts of Youngstown, OH, Darrius (Ashley) Gilbert of Raleigh, NC, and Brian Harris of the home; grandchildren, Alana Palm of Garner, NC, and Braelyn Crowder of Raleigh, NC; two brothers and three sisters, Michael (Christy) Estes of Rolesville, NC, Daris Burt of Holly Springs, NC, Theresa Nesmith of Wendell, NC, Tiffany (Mohamed) Belghmi of Raleigh, NC, and Rasheda (Mark) Sanders of Charlotte, NC; special brother/cousin, Rodney (Pam) Harris of Raleigh, NC; aunt/mother, Effie Harris of Raleigh, NC; special niece and nephew, Lashauna Jarrett of Holly Springs and Benjamin Butler of Raleigh, NC; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and a number of bonus children. In addition to her children, aunts, and grandchildren, she has left behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation: 12:00 - 2:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2022 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Funeral will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Poplar Springs Christian Church, 6115 Old Stage Road in Raleigh, NC 27603.
Burial: Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Apex, NC 27539.
Masks are required in order to attend the visitation and or funeral service.
