On the morning of May 15, 2024, our Heavenly Father whispered in the ear of his child Virginia and told her it was time for her to come to her eternal home.
Without hesitation, she finished her journey here on God’s earth at Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Columbus, GA.
On July 15, 1935, she was welcomed into God’s world by parents West Sanks Sr. and Clara Sanks in Phenix City, AL she was the youngest of five siblings. Her parents and all her siblings: Mary Golden, Annie Durham, Clara Sanks, and West Sanks Jr. preceded her in death.
Virginia (“Dillia” as she was lovingly called) attended Mother Mary Mission School and was a 1955 high school graduate. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the late Rev. J.C Cook. She loved her church and only health issues kept her away in the later years of her life.
Wherever she went she always had a joyful spirit. She loved to laugh, and it was contagious to all around her. After her husband’s military retirement, they settled down in Columbus, GA. Her love and caring commitment to her family made a house a home full of love.
She is survived by two loving and caregiving daughters, Gwendolyn Brazell and Debra Clark, both of Columbus, GA; one grandson Corey Williams of Columbus, GA whom she loved so dearly; two nieces Betty Golden and Vera Unseld; two nephews, Jimmy Golden and Ronald Golden all of Indianapolis, IN.; one sister-in-law, Virvin Clark of Mt. Airy Louisiana; two special first cousins, Sarah Powell of Phenix City, AL, Annie Mims of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. and a host of other family members and friends.
