Ms. Sharyel Marie Perry, 55, of Midland, Ga passed Monday, December 30, 2024 in Midland, GA.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Columbus Georgia Convention & Trade Center 801 Front Avenue, Columbus, Ga.
She was born on August 29,1969, in Camden, NJ, Sharyel was a cherished mother to Patrice and Joshua, a loving sister to Stanley, James Bruce Jr., Jacqueline, and Trina (deceased), and a devoted "Dana" to her grandson Micah. She was preceded in death by her parents and other beloved family members.
In 1989, Sharyel moved to Salinas, California, to live with her older brother, Stanley, just before the huge 6.9 earthquake of 1989. There, she met Nathan Taylor, her first husband, and together they welcomed their daughter, Patrice, and later their son, Joshua. She and her family later moved to Fort Bliss in Colorado before relocating to Georgia. In later years, Sharyel remarried into the Perry family, purchased a home in Midland, GA, and started a career in cybersecurity as a "white hat" ethical hacker.
Sharyel will be remembered for her selfless spirit and her passion for helping others. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering and advocating for those living with cancer, offering support and guidance to help them survive and thrive. Her support and guidance were rooted in her experience as a breast cancer survivor of more than 15 years. Her artistic talents shone through in her crafts, and she had a special love for camping and creating. If you needed a recipe or advice on cooking or canning, Sharyel was always the go-to person. She loved arts and crafts and often shared her knowledge on how to create beautiful, unique pieces.
Sharyel also had a deep love for her four-legged companion, Socrates, and for extensive travel, particularly to Panama City Beach, Florida, and other destinations like Jamaica, Italy, and the Bahamas. She believed in the power of education and encouraged everyone to learn about topics like nutrition, holistic remedies, and short-wave radio operations. The list of her interests was long, which further endeared her to those who knew her.
Sharyel's kindness, generosity, and thoughtful guidance touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Sharyel Perry be made to the West Central Georgia Cancer Coalition, 1830 Shepard Drive, Columbus, Georgia. Website https://wcgcc.org/
