Rosie Marie Caldwell Thomas was born on June 23, 1948, to the late Menzie Caldwell, Sr. and Alzata Jackson Caldwell. Marie entered into eternal
rest on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
At an early age, Marie accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior and united with the Howard Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church
in Hatchechubee, AL.
After marrying the love of her life, Calter Thomas, or as she affectionately called him "Cliff," she would unite with Colbert African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served in various capacities. She especially had a heart for young people and served as the Young People and Children's Division (YPD) Director.
Marie later joined Spirit Filled Ministries under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Wayne D. Baker where she sang in the choir, served on the finance
committee and was president of the Evelyn Evans Missionary Society. One of Marie's favorite quotes were lyrics from the song, "If I can help someone as I travel along, if I can help someone with a word or asong, then my living shall not be in vain."
Rosie Marie attended the Russell County Schools and graduated from Oliver High School in 1968. After graduation, she worked for the Russell County Board of Education as a Teacher Aide and later transferred to the Food and Nutrition Program. She left the school system topursue a career in the textile industry at Fieldcrest Cannon. There, her career
spanned over 30 years. She was a loyal employee who worked as an inspector, and also served a facilitator, and an advocate for employees through the textile union.
Marie will always be remembered for her infectious smile, her caring spirit, her generous and supportive nature and as one of the sister's of the legendary Caldwell Gospel Singers.
She was devoted to her family, friends, and supported her community as evidenced by her participation in youth sports by being the team mom for the local
softball team and a cheerleader for her children and grandchildren who participated in various extra-curricular activities.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, M. C. Caldwell, Freddie Caldwell, Earnest Caldwell, Roosevelt Caldwell, and M. L. Caldwell.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three lovely daughters, Felicia Washington and Ebony Thomas both of Stockbridge, GA; Carla Thomas of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren whom she adored, Lauryn Lee and Richard Allen Washington, Jr.; two sisters, Flora Caldwell Smith of Phenix City, AL and Lola Hutton (Nathaniel) of Birmingham, AL; three brothers, Joseph Caldwell of Chicago, IL; Menzie Caldwell, Jr. (Annie Ruth) of Seale, AL; Reverend John Caldwell of Birmingham, AL; a brother in-law Felix Richardson; a sister-in-law Diane Caldwell; a goddaughter, Eboni Green, two godsons; Parise Bailey and Jarrett Bailey; life-long friends Milton and Diane Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

To the family Rosie Thomas we had known Rose for a long time. we worked in the mill together for a while. She was a very nice and pleasant person to be around. she will surely be missed. A Word of comfort to the family. We know the loss of a loved one brings great sadness; However, the bible offers. this hope: at John chapter 5 verses 28 &29 it shows that those we love who has died can live again. That means we will be able to see them again and enjoy their company. The bible is God's word, so we know it to be true. Macy & Linda Adkins

Family... I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Rosie Marie; as l knew her, in the Seale, Sandfort Community. She demonstrated her kindness and love for me, by sharing beautiful dresses ( several times) that her daughters had out grown for my daughter. As a single Mom, l was tearfully grateful and have never forgotten. She modeled for me how I am ( we are ) called to help others . My prayer is that God will give each of you Strength, Love, Hope and Peace that passes all understanding .
