Mr. Reuben Earnest Redd, 75, of Wetumpka, AL passed Friday, July 1, 2022 in Wetumpka, AL.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Friday, July 8, 2022 at St. John A.M.E. Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL with Rev. Samuel Smith, pastor and Pastor Agnes Lover , officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 12-4 p.m. EST.
Reuben Earnest Redd was born March 4, 1947 to the late Reuben Redd, Jr. and Lurlene Redd in Russell County, Alabama.
Reuben enjoyed a long successful career in law enforcement. He worked for the Phenix City Police Department as a police officer for over 15 years and advanced to the rank of Sergeant and Lieutenant before leaving to advance his career. He worked for the Tuskegee Police Department. He was also a Supervisory Special Agent in the U. S. Army. To further his career, he moved to Wetumpka, Alabama where he worked for the Alabama Department of Human Resources as a Special Investigator and the Alabama Securities Commission as a Special Agent until his retirement.
He was an alumnus of Troy State University, Phenix City, Alabama where he earned a Master Degree in Criminal Justice Administration.
Reuben was a retired Army Veteran, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a prude member of DAV Chapter 12, Department of Alabama where he served in many leadership positions and a Past Chapter Commander for chapter 12 Montgomery, AL. He also served as a DAV Department of Alabama 3rd District Junior Vice Commander, District Advisor, and member of the Department Nomination Committee.
Grand Inspector General (GIG) Reuben E. Redd 33 was a member and Past Master of Sons of King Solomon Lodge No. 358 of Columbus, Georgia; The Fourth Masonic District, Past Director of Security for the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge Jurisdiction of Georgia. A member and served as Lecturer of Jacob Harrison Consistory No.85 Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Prince Hall Affiliation (PHA) Unite States of America (USA) Southern Jurisdiction (SJ) Grand Orient At Memphis, Tennessee. He was a past Secretary and was serving as the assistance Secretary for the Georgia Council of Deliberation Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry PHA. USA. SJ. of Georgia. A Past President C.L. Mathews Commander of the Rite. He was a member of Al Frauk Shrine Temple No.145. GIG.
He served as a board member on the YMCA, and many other non-profit organizations. Reuben was a member of the Saint Paul AME Church, Montgomery, Alabama, where he served as security minister, stewardess, and as an associate member of the Ethel M. Howard Women Missionary Society.
He went to eternal rest on July 1, 2022 in Wetumpka, Alabama. He was preceded in death by nephew, Kintaye James; sister, Tangie Redd; and brother, Arthur Redd.
Those who will forever cherish his memories are his wife, Sharon Redd; two daughters, Tayondra Redd, Pike Road, Alabama, and Nakita Nall, Columbus, Georgia; his three sisters, Linda Williams of Columbus, Georgia, Carlene Redd and Julia (Peter) James both of Phenix City, Alabama; three grandchildrens, Brianna Williams, Dejohn Williams of Columbus, Georgia and Jaylan Harris, Pike Road, Alabama; one great grandchild, Emma Williams; his nieces, Latrice Moffett and Kristen Redd both of Phenix City, Alabama who they called “Uncle Bay Bay” and great nieces, great nephews and many other relatives.
