HER GENESIS
Peggy Gamble was born on July 4, 1945, to Addie Mae Ford and Fred Ford, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the middle child of five siblings and shared a special connection with her brothers and sisters. Her siblings, Eddie Lee Ford, Fred Joseph Ford, Jessie Mae Sumbry, and Eddie Ford have all passed away, but their memory continues to be cherished. Her beloved sister and caretaker, Margie Purry, remained by her side and lived with her in Columbus, GA. Additionally, her sister-in-law Tippy Ford of Columbus, GA was very supportive. Peggy also leaves behind two cherished aunts, Gladys Lyles and Mildred Seltzer
HER LOVE
Peggy shared a beautiful life with her husband, Timothy Gamble, for 50+ years until his passing in 2015. Together, they built a home raising five sons: Cleophus Gamble, Michael Gamble, Marcus Gamble, Johan Gamble, and Dion Gamble. Although Cleophus, Marcus, and Johan have also passed on, their spirits remain alive in the family's memories. Michael Gamble, in particular, devoted himself to being her caregiver, showing steadfast love and support.
HER SERVICE
Peggy dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning her career in healthcare at Cobb Memorial Hospital and The Medical Center at the young age of 17. For 50 years, her commitment and compassionate spirit made her a respected and cherished colleague. Even after retiring, she maintained close ties with her former coworkers, who became more like family.
HER PASSION
Cooking was one of Peggyβs greatest joys, and she took pride in preparing dinners for her family and friends until her health declined. These meals were full of good food, laughter, and warmth, embodying her love and hospitality.
Peggy also held deep bonds with her classmates from South Girard High Schoolβs Class of 1963. Their annual trips and shared memories brought her immense joy and a sense of connection throughout her life.
HER FAITH
A devoted Christian, Peggy was an active member of 4th Street Baptist Church since 1985. She attended church faithfully every Sunday and studied her Bible Day and night, embodying her faith in every aspect of her life. Peggy never missed a chance to show her appreciation and love for those around her, always sending out thoughtful cards for birthdays and holidays, each one containing heartfelt notes and her signature $2 bill.
HER LEGACY
Peggy was the proud grandmother of Cordele Jackson, Keondra Jackson, Kennedy Gamble, Ashley Gamble, Jaida Gamble, JaNaisia Gamble, Courtney Stephens, Semetra Gamble, Demetra Gamble, and Makayla Lawrence. She was also the great-grandmother to ten, who filled her life with boundless joy.
Peggy Jean Ford Gamble will be remembered for her nurturing heart, unwavering faith, and dedication to her family and community. Her legacy continues in the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the countless cherished memories she leaves behind.
